Inside Curaden

Designer of Curaprox’s new special edition, Veronika Burger: “My toothbrushes are about realising that every day comes in a different shape and colour, and we should celebrate that.”

Observing the different colours, shapes and patterns in everyday life is Veronika Burger’s main inspiration. And her Different Days edition of toothbrushes is a great proof of that.

Let’s not forget that every day can bring real successes as well as small victories. Our whole life is built from our different achievements on different days, and we should celebrate and enjoy all of them. That’s the main idea behind the Different Days special edition of Curaprox toothbrushes, created by Veronika Burger. Meet the Slovenian designer and illustrator who loves to work on anything that is colourful and that brings joy into people’s lives.

What was your path to becoming a designer?

I was always on the creative side. From drawing on walls as a toddler to making sketches in my school notebooks – as long as I can remember I’ve always been slowly heading towards what I am today.

What types of projects do you usually work on? What do you enjoy the most?

I usually work on illustrations for different projects. I mostly do editorial illustrations or illustration for product design. I really enjoy creating cute and colourful illustrations and I am lucky that most of my projects are exactly like that.

What inspires you?

My biggest inspiration is nature and all the colours around me. I also like to observe different patterns and shapes.

What are your daily rituals that you can’t imagine your day without?

I drink a lot of water, hydration is very important. My daily ritual is also taking care of my indoor plants, it is like daily meditation. And brushing my teeth before going to bed, I can’t fall asleep if I don’t clean them.

How did the collaboration with Curaprox start?

I saw an ad for the design contest on social media and I gave it a go. It was such a fun project to create different design packaging for Curaprox brushes.

Curaprox Design Challenge on Jovoto

At the beginning of 2021, Curaprox launched a design challenge on the Jovoto platform to encourage designers from all around the world to upload their design proposals for a double pack of Curaprox CS 5460 toothbrushes. More than 1,400 different design proposals were registered. Based on the voting from within the Jovoto community, as well as public voting on the Curaprox website, the six best designs have been chosen. Special editions of toothbrushes with these selected designs will be produced and sold around the world. For the designers, this is an opportunity to see their own designs on store shelves and in bathrooms around the world, and also to be showcased by both Curaprox and Jovoto. The winning designs will be launched, and their designers will be presented on Curaprox’s media platforms, in 2021 and 2022.

What’s the idea behind your special edition of toothbrushes? What did you want to express?

I wanted to create a minimalistic design, but one that was still fun and colourful, to remind people that every day comes in a different shape and colour. Each day is special on its own and we should celebrate that.

How did you choose the colours for the toothbrushes?

I wanted to use lively and fun colours that are suitable for every gender and age. And that’s how I decided on the pink and green shades that I used, which are also my favourite colours.

Every day is different. Make it special with Curaprox.

What was the biggest challenge of this design?

The biggest challenge was to create a composition that would also include the white font and to show that each shape is different.

How would you like people to think about your toothbrush?

I want people to realise that each day is different. Some days have big victories, and some have just small ones, like cooking the perfect spaghetti or doing one push-up. But each day is special on its own and in the end, our life is built from such days. That’s why we should celebrate every day, no matter how different it is from the others.
